Ashwagandharishta Benefits & Uses
Ashwagandharishta has the following health benefits and medicinal uses.
Physical weakness
Ashwagandharishta provides strength to the body and it is helpful in treating physical weakness. The withanolides present in the Ashwagandha are responsible for this action. It brings strength in the body and acts as antioxidant as well as adaptogenic.
Fatigue
Ayurvedic doctors frequently use Ashwagandharishta in fatigue. It gives relief and provides vitality. It reduces tiredness and fatigue by increasing the ability of the body to handle the physical as well as mental stress.
Adrenal Fatigue
Ashwagandharishta supports the adrenal gland and improves its functions. The too stressful life is an underlying cause of adrenal fatigue and the adrenal gland becomes unable to produce enough amount of cortisol stress hormone to cope with the stress.
Ashwagandha, the main ingredient of Ashwagandharishta, has the ability to improve the functions of the adrenal gland and to reduce physical, mental, and emotional stress. Ultimately, it reduces stress and improves adrenal functions. Ashwagandharishta helps in the following symptoms.
- Feeling difficulty in the morning to get out of the bed
- Feeling tiredness even after waking up in the morning
- Trouble to think clearly
- Inability to concentrate on tasks and finish the tasks within time limits
However, Ashwagandha alone can work in the above symptoms and condition, but the bioavailability of Ashwagandha constituents is more with Ashwagandharishta.
Underweight
Aswagandharishtam helps improving body weight and muscle mass. It improves appetite too, which also helps in gaining weight fast.
Anxiety
Some people suffering from anxiety have symptoms such as feeling uneasiness, trouble sleeping, cold hands or feet, restlessness, and tingling sensation in hands or feet. In all these symptoms, Ashwagandharishta works well. According to Ayurveda, all these symptoms occur due to VATA and PITTA imbalance in the body. Ashwagandharishta works on VATA type anxiety with the above symptoms. In PITTA type anxiety, people have palpitation, burning, or heat sensation in hands or feet and restlessness. In such conditions, Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri), licorice, shankhpushpi, Mukta pishti (Pearl calcium), and praval pishti (coral calcium) should be taken with Ashwagandharishta.
Depression
Ashwagandharishta has antidepressant properties. It relaxes the mind and increases the serotonin level in the brain. Thus, it improves interest in daily activities, corrects sleeping patterns, reduces irritability, and increases energy level.
Sleeplessness or insomnia
The calming action of Ashwagandharishta helps people with insomnia. It relaxes the mind and reduces mental fatigue. The common cause of insomnia is excessive thinking during the night or some disturbing thoughts floating in the mind. In such a condition, Ashwagandharishta cannot work alone.
